October 13, 2009 This year's 11th Annual Arizona Preps Fall Showcase is set to get underway this week, October 16-18th on the campus of Arizona State University at their PE West Facility.Every year this event brings together the state's best high school basketball talent before the start to the high school season. It is always a very exciting event, as the beginning of the up & coming high school basketball season looms very near. With such excitement every year surrounding the start to the high school season, players, coaches and fans in attendance look forward to this annual event. "This will be a very unique Fall Showcase event," said Tournament Director and Arizona Preps Senior Editor Anthony Ray. "It will be held at a new venue for one, but also the field of talent in Arizona has grown. When you consider that there will be a lot of new faces in this year's event looking to make a name for themselves, I am extremely excited about giving each of the participants in this year's event an opportunity to showcase their individual talents." This year the field is wide open for surprise performers, as many of the state's best players in the 2010 class are still undecided in their college recruitment. The rising 2011 class of juniors is still rounding itself into shape, while the 2012 and 2013 classes are loaded with young talent, as well. "Every year this event gives our staff and myself an opportunity to see what is out there in the state before the high school season begins," said Ray. "We build much of our database for who to watch during the high school season from this annual event. Since it is very difficult to see everyone during the high school season, this event allows us to find out who is out there, and see who deserves our attention." Past MVP's from this annual event have gone on to star in the college ranks, while top performers from this annual exposure event have also gone on to receive much higher college recruitment, as more than 300 colleges across the country receive the recruiting information from the Fall Showcase, which aids each school in the recruiting process. "This year's talent pool is deep," added Ray. "Our staff has put a lot of work into this year's event, so we are really looking forward to seeing it unfold." This year's 11th Annual event will kick off Friday evening in ASU's PE West Facility at 4:30PM with opening announcements and this year's guest speaker, Eddie Johnson of the Phoenix Suns. We look forward to seeing everyone there! Stay tuned for complete game schedules and rosters for this year's Fall Showcase on Wednesday morning. |
