Arizona's girl 2012 class of prospects is filled with talent across the board, with many of the top prospects now off the recruiting board.
One player that has made her decision on college already is Desert Vista High School's 6-foot-2 senior post Tinisha Toussaint.
A signee with Weber State this fall, Toussaint is a promising prospect for the next level. The Weber State women's basketball coaching staff saw her potential this past spring and summer, and wrapped up the talented post prospect early.
At 6-foot-2 and 180-pounds, Toussaint is a good-sized post player that runs the floor very well and gets very good low-post position, where she is able to create scoring opportunities for herself around the basket. Still raw somewhat offensively, Toussaint does not mind physical contact and gets to the free throw line quite often. She plays with good aggression and goes strong to the basket, but will need to continue to work hard on her footwork and low post moves to become a threat offensively at the next level.
Toussaint is an active rebounder and shotblocker and has good overall work ethic on and off the floor, which will suit her nicely over time.
She played very well in this year's Arizona Preps Fall Showcase, where she was an all-star selection for the event. She is also coming off a very good showing this past spring and summer while competing with her club program, the Arizona Venom.
Her club coach, Carolyn Jones, sings her praises as a result of her hard work and strong play this off-season.
Toussaint is also very well-coached by Desert Vista HS head coach Rachel Proudfoot, and will be a big part of Desert Vista's chances this high school season to compete in a loaded Division-I Class.
Desert Vista is off to a 4-2 start on the 2011-2012 high school basketball season, and Toussaint is currently averaging 5.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per/game.
After dropping their first two games of the season, Desert Vista is on a win streak - winning their last four games in a row, including a big 78-58 home win on Friday over a very talented Chandler HS team.
Toussaint's prospects for the future are very good, as she has very good upside as a player - as a result of her size and length of body. She will be a definite four at the collegiate level, and should improve a lot over time with continued hard work. She should develop a great deal and benefit the Weber State women's program nicely for the future.
